Inspiring Curriculum at Whissendine primary school

The College leadership team were excited to be invited to visit Whissendine Primary School, to meet with Rob Gooding, Headteacher and his team to discuss their curriculum and transition from primary to secondary.

Catmose College is in the process of developing it’s KS3 curriculum, we want to ensure that our students have the necessary skills to thrive in the challenging world that is the 21st Century. We are planning to ensure that all students are self Managers, Effective participators, Team workers, Reflective learners, are able to act Independent and be Creative thinkers. The new college buildings were designed with this curriculum in mind and we are looking forward to taking advantage of the new facilities this will offer.

Whissendine have been developing such a creative curriculum for some time, in their recent Ofsted inspection it was rated as outstanding. The College leadership team were similarly impressed, we aim to build on their work, ensuring that students enjoy a smooth transition from primary to secondary. Rob showed us an excellent set of videos from influential thinkers in curriculum development, one of which can be viewed here:

Our new curriculum will be visible to parents through our website and we will be asking students their thoughts on this development through the student council.  Our subject leaders will be working on this development throughout the rest of the year to ensure it is ready for September.

We are looking forward to continuing to build on our partnership with Whissendine and extend our thanks to Rob and his team for the time they spent meeting with us and sharing their curriculum.
